Another "Random Stuff" Post

Some more stuff I haven't gotten to in other posts that I wanted to share or that I thought was interesting:
  • Pollo Campero is a restaurant that is sort of like Guatemala's version of KFC. We ate dinner at Pollo Campero on Tuesday night. I had the "upgraded" chicken nuggets. They were a step up from the type of chicken nuggets you would get at McDonald's (they had these nuggets, too, though). :) Another thing I noticed about this chain - its like Waffle House in the south...there's one on every block.
  • The lines at the bank were crazy long!! There are security guards outside of every bank & they only let a certain number of people in at a time. Therefore there is always a line outside & on the day after pay day - the line is exceptionally long!!
  • One day for lunch at the Ministry - Mario served stew. Its not often the Ministry is able to serve a meal with meat in it but this day they had some beef available. Some of the kids took the bones with them & gnawed on them all the way out the door.
  • Another project that was going on while we were there was the painting of the outside of the building. When we arrived on Saturday - the building was green. By the time we left, the top floor was still green, but the bottom floor had been painted with a heart tree, flowers, & butterflies. It was a great transformation!! See the slide shows (in the next post)I added for photos of the "before" & "after".
  • On the day we went to the zoo, we ate lunch in a little pic nic area there. We had sandwiches, chips, & kool - aid. I ad lime flavored chips & these are now my favorite! Wish I could find them here!!!!
  • One day I was standing outside the Ministry talking to Brandon when I noticed two ladies walking toward us. One lady was carrying a bundle of something on her head. I asked Brandon what it was & he said it was probably tortillas or something. I said it can't be because its moving! This is when we realized this lady had a live chicken wrapped up in a sheet & she was carrying it down the road on her head!!
